Dog Sitters

Dog sitters will care for, and take care of, your poodle for a fee.

If you don't have family members, friends or neighbors you can ask to look in on your pooch while you are away, then a professional may be just what you are looking for.

Professional pet sitters may also house sit and stay at your house with your poodle when you are on vacation.

If you can't vacation with your pet and would like to get a pet sitter, make sure the sitter is licensed and bonded.

Ask for references from them and contact those references before you make a decision to hire one.

When It's Best

Hire a pet sitter if your dog gets anxious away from home or needs special attention with diet and medications.

She'll be more comfortable at home when you are gone, and having a sitter stay there or come in a few hours a day will give her companionship.

Where to Find

You can ask friends, your veterinarian or your breeder for suggestions on licensed and bonded sitters, and check your phone book.

Pet Sitters International and National Association of Professional Pet Sitters are two sites to visit to find pet sitters in your area.

Have the sitter come to your house about 2 times to meet and interact with your poodle.

The sitter, your pet and you need to be comfortable with each other.

Ask the Vet

You can also check with your veterinarian to see if they offer boarding services while you are away.

There will be people constantly around which will be reassuring to your dog.

And, the people around her will be animal lovers.

When you can't take your pet along for a vacation, pet sitters can offer companionship to your poodle along with exercising and feeding her while you are on vacation.
