Shepadoodles

Shepadoodles, also known as shepapoos, are a cross between a poodle and a german shepherd.

These mixed german shepherd breeds have been around since 2001. They tend to inherit mostly german shepherd characteristics.

Coat

The shepadoodle coat will shed but not as much as the german shepherd's coat does.
 

The coat will be wavy or curly. These mixed breeds should go for a hair cut once or twice per year.

Traits

These designer dogs are energetic and protective. They are intelligent, fun loving, loyal and friendly.

These poodle-shepherd cross dogs are sturdy with an athletic build and are active dogs.

They require exercise each day which should include at least one walk along with play time with games such as fetch.

These mix dogs may inherit the german shepherd's herding instinct and watchdog tendencies.

They are sociable, calm, non-aggressive, and love to be with their families. These are not outside dogs - they need to be indoors surrounded by their loving pack.

Training

These designer dogs are easy to train and love learning new tricks and commands.

To help prevent boredom in these dogs, teach them things when they are puppies and also when they are adult dogs. They will be eager students!

Size

The poodle parent is either a miniature or a standard so the dog will be medium to larger sized.

A standard dog will be 20 to 28 inches tall, and weigh 50 to 90 pounds. A miniature dog is 17 to 20 inches in height, and weighs 20 to 50 pounds.

Color

These mixed breed dogs come in black, cream, apricot, brown, silver, blue and white colors. They can also be a black and white mix.

Health

They live up to 15 years of age. Their common health problems include hip dysplasia and eye problems.

Your german shepherd and poodle mix will be a nice addition to the family.

With their protective natures, they will become loyal and devoted family members for years to come.
